From a single idea, the vision of Paul Miletta started on the crest of the Global Crisis Crash in 2008, and he has rode the alternating waves of change and challenge ever since.  In this episode we discuss pretty much everything, getting to the heart of his passion for finding the best yacht for the every sea. 

Since 2015, the CdM shipyard is the world’s leading builder of explorer yachts. The facilities cover an overall surface of 16˙000 square meters, including 7˙000 sq m of workshops and 1˙000 sq m of docks. They are a group bound together by their love for the sea. They are a team of men and women capable of tackling the day-to-day challenges in an ever-changing sector.

The waves of change just keep coming with Nicole WATTS from Maritime NSW

I'm going to preface this episode with a warning: This woman is unstoppable and together with her team and tenacity have brought you the changes and customer experiences that NSW has seen in government over the last few years. 

Nicole Watts, Director of NSW Maritime, has her feet firmly in the waters, looking to the future of our shoreline. With her extensive career in leadership and change management, a young family and charisma, you can't help but be inspired. 

Nicole thrives on getting it better, not just right. She has overseen the customer service journey at Service NSW, spent a year with Apple Australia and travelled extensively on her days off from her roles at Qantas during the pandemic, taking and making opportunities.

This interview was awe inspiring for me, demonstrating the transition of skills and ability into Marine Industry she inadvertently started in whilst working on Cruise Ships during her early life. She has an open invitation to come back onto the series.

Young Women On The Open Waters with Zoe Thomson

Zoe Thomson is a young Perth woman who has spent her life on, in and around the water. From the age of 7, Zoe took herself off to sailing school and fell in love with the ocean, the companions and the hot chips. 

In this episode I chat to Zoe about her dream to compete at the Olympics in 2024. Her drive and determination runs deep with other achievements in International Titles taking out the Youth World Title a few years ago. 

From this conversation you'll hear what it takes each day for a future champion to develop her Olympic Dream.  With 2032 in Brisbane the home game is a big goal. 

Her career is two fold with a degree in finance and is One to Watch. 

Sailing will take her around the world, but her attitude is of a life long learner taking away the lessons losing a race delivers.  Towards the end hear how Zoe deals with disappointment, her vulnerability is pure inspiration and demonstrated resilience.

Designing a life by the sea with Charlotte from Princess Yachts

In this episode I spontaneously chat with Charlotte Jones, the Princess Yachts Marketing Coordinator.  With her youth full of memories by the sea and artistic creativity, Charlotte's love of the ocean has given her a blank canvas to build a career in illustration and graphic design. 

As an intricate member of the communications team, Charlotte is from a generation that has never known the world without the internet and insight into how this cohort connect using the internet is valuable to those from a different era. 

Social media continues to be a great medium for Princess Yachts, with incredible visual and video platforms that share the experience of being a Princess Yacht owner.

Where it all began, A conversation with my Dad

My dad and I had some amazing adventures messing around on boats when I was young.  Today I sit down with him and chat about the fond and remarkable events of my childhood that shaped my love of boating. 

As an architect he was clever and creative, as my dad he was kind and cheeky.  He taught me to be the captain of my own ship, instilling in me responsibility and resilience. 

From small boats around an island to whale watching adventures up north, Dad shares his recollections of the holidays and weekly race meet ups that kept him busy and me entertained.

I truly and deeply value this conversation and forever have my memories in his own words.   I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did.

Andrea Francolini captures the beauty of the seas and his subjects in one shot

A long time in the making, this conversation with Andrea Francolini compelled me back to time spent in Italy and I am grateful for our time together.  Andrea is a well known and revered artist, using his photographic skills to capture the essence of whatever his subject matter is. 

Literally falling into photography (a great story he shares in this episode), Andrea has gone onto make a difference to the lives of young children in Pakistan by raising money to fund their education. 

He also shares some of the amazing stories of the images you see on his webpage and instagram account.  Contracted to many of the big corporate sponsored sailing events, Andrea took on a personal project to amplify the presence of women in boating by taking their portraits at the Sydney to Hobart, a few years ago, which he still does to this day. 

His Eye2Eye portrait series has captured a wave of attention whilst the Whilst You Were Sleeping exhibition shares the water escapes of Sydney's sea board at a time when many would be sleeping creating amazing dawn and dusk images.

The Boat Princess Update and Interview with one of our younger boating crew - Chloe

In this episode I give you an update on all things The Boat Princess, a brand that started 2 years with the intention to create awareness about the career pathways and roles in this multi sector industry. 

We've interviewed a number of women and men about the opportunities that exist and some new ones that have been created to accommodate the advancement in technology. 

Today I also interview young Chloe, a young 12 year old with a dream of designing boats and a big Below Deck fan. Chloe is from one of our families that berth their boat at the Empire Marina at Bobbin Head and we talk about what the future looks like in boating.

Andy and Pete : Princess Yacht Design that delivers forward thinking details with a difference

So for this episode I again come to you from the UK, a trip that just keeps on giving and this interview is no different. I caught up with Andy and Pete who design the Princess Yachts, turning the blank canvas of the hull into a awe inspiring jaw dropping space that ensures every Princess Yacht owner is beyond happy.

Andy Lawrence, the Director of Design, shares his journey into Princess Yachts from Jaguar and Pete Cullum-Kenyon, Principle Creative Designer, also explains how years spent designing the interiors of luxury brand vehicles, and then followed his addiction with the sea where the logical progression was to boats.  Pete spent some time in Australia too...
